Insurance update – Annual Group Insurance Review - 22 February 2012

Annual Group Insurance Review
As outlined in the Matrix Product Disclosure Statement, the Trustee reviews your clients’ group insurance cover on an annual basis.

The 2012 Annual Group Insurance Review will commence on Friday 2 March 2012 with all changes effective 1 March 2012. The updated group insurance details, effective 1 March 2012, will be available on MoneyOne Online from Monday 5 March 2012.

Please note, whilst the review is in progress, MoneyOne Online will display the group insurance details for the previous annual period (1 March 2011), including premiums, sum insured amounts and review dates for your clients.

Notifying employers and clients
We will soon be writing to employers and clients with their updated group insurance details. A further insurance update, including reference copies of the employer and client correspondence, will be issued prior to the letters being sent.

Applications received during the Annual Group Insurance Review
New insurance applications and changes to existing covers will be processed up until 29 February 2012. Applications received on 1 and 2 March 2012 will be processed once the Annual Group Insurance Review is complete.

MoneyOne is continually being updated to improve the delivery of service to our users and we are pleased to advise that the following enhancement has been delivered in the February 2012 release:

1. Member-specific Complying Fund Letters
MoneyOne Office and MoneyOne Online can now generate Complying Fund Letters containing member specific details. These can be generated for an individual investor or as a batch. The new report is called ‘Complying Fund Letter’.

Important notice regarding internet security
You may be aware of the fraudulent activity in the market recently, reported by some financial
institutions, where people have had their accounts illegally accessed via internet sites.
With the ever increasing use of technology in our day to day lives, this is a timely reminder that all
advisers and investors should:

not disclose passwords or login details to other parties
regularly update or change their passwords (recommended that this be done at least quarterly)
ensure their login and password details are at a degree of complexity, to ensure that they are
not open to fraudulent activity.

Please note that website users have not experienced any security issues using our site, this is
simply a notification to ensure that your internet security continues to be maintained to reduce the
risk of fraudulent activity.

MX Wrap/MX SuperWrap Calculator - 9 February 2012

Please note that we have removed this calculator from the Matrix website. The calculator was updated last week, but since then we have noticed it contains incorrect information.

Therefore if you have used this calculator since last Thursday afternoon (2nd February), then the fees would have been calculated incorrectly.

We are arranging with BT to have the calculator corrected and we will return it to the website as soon as possible. The calculator is loaded on the Matrix website at: Research & Product > Platform Documents > Platform Calculators

Tax Deductions on Insurance Premiums

Late last year, there was a comment on a social network site that AustralianSuper does not rebate the 15% tax deduction for deductible insurance premiums back to our members. I want to assure you all that AustralianSuper does pass the 15% tax deduction to its member’s.

AustralianSuper passes the benefit to members during month end system processing by applying contributions tax to taxable contributions received during the month after deducting insurance premiums that are payable by the member for the month from taxable contributions.
